Contact the jail at (303) 654-1850 for the specific bail procedure for the requested inmate. Bail is returned to the payer once the criminal case ends.

The detention facility accepts cash, checks, and the use of a bondsman. Bondsmen typically charge customers 10% to 15% of the bail amount as their payment.

3. Can I phone an inmate at Adams County Jail?

No, inmates are not allowed to receive phone calls. But they are allowed to make outgoing calls using a phone calling card or by calling collect.

Note that all phone calls are recorded, so be sure not to say anything incriminating.

Visits are conducted in person unless the visiting room has reached maximum capacity. In that case, visits are conducted through closed-access video.

Visitors are required to bring their I.D. and wear appropriate attire. People can be turned away for wearing offensive or revealing clothing.

Note that visitors are checked for outstanding warrants. So anyone with a warrant will get arrested if they attempt to visit an inmate.

The facility has some medical providers such as nurses on staff. They can dispense medication and attend to minor emergencies. In the case of a serious emergency, sick or injured inmates are rushed to Platte Valley Medical Center or other nearby hospitals.

Yes, the facility does have a commissary where inmates can purchase such items as toiletries, stationary and snacks. Commissary items get delivered to inmates once a week.

9. Who gets booked at the Adams County Detention Facility?

The detention facility houses anyone arrested for felonies or misdemeanors in Brighton or throughout Adams County, Colorado. Inmates who cannot get bailed out remain in the facility pending the resolution of their case.

10. Other information

The Adams Detention Facility holds 1,600 beds with two inmates per cell. When the facility overcrowds, up to four inmates bunk in one cell.

A few years ago, the jail was so overcrowded that the jail actually released six inmates to make more space. Budget cuts also forced the sheriff to limit housing for inmates as well.[1]

But recently, the jail added a mental health unit to help treat its many inmates suffering from behavioral problems. This new unit also created more space and alleviates overcrowding.[2]
