When are visiting hours?
Visiting hours at the Carson City Sheriff’s Detention Facility are on Sundays and last no more than 15 minutes.
To visit an inmate, you must make an appointment ahead of time by calling (775) 283-4777 on Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Visits occur through glass and are supervised by jail staff. Visits are limited to two adults and one child.
You must bring a driver’s license (or other valid ID) and be on the inmate’s visitors list. Foreign visitors must bring a passport. And all visitors may be required to submit to a physical search.
Visitors may not wear:
- Clothes associated with drugs or alcohol, gangs, violence or discrimination
- Visible undergarments
- See-through clothes
- Clothes revealing cleavage or midriffs
- Clothes that are sleeveless, strapless, backless, or halter-top
- Shorts or skirts that are shorter than the wearer’s fingertips
- Ripped or torn clothes
- Excessively baggy or tight pants
Can I call or mail an inmate?
Carson City Jail inmates may not receive calls, but they are given time during the week to make outgoing phone calls.
